We distribute glass and glass products to communities in Northern Alberta, BC and the territories.
We’ve been in the glass industry for over 35 years and have worked to expand our business and offerings ever since. From manufacturing to sales, to distribution and more! Our business has passed from father to daughter and continues to give back to our community as we evolve our offerings.
Over 50 years of experience in our industry
Our Story
After working in glass and flying airplanes as a young man, Dan Young wanted more for his family. So Dan and his wife, Carole, opened their own glass business — Bulkley Valley Glass — in April 1971. They were open 6 days a week from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Carole worked in the office, bringing both kids, Mike and Laura, with her everyday while Dan worked in the field. Being the only Government Certified Glazier between Terrace and Prince George, Dan was a very busy man, and it didn’t take long for him to realize that he had room for growth in the industry. He continued to open new locations under the banner of All West Glass (AWG) in Northern BC through the 70s and 80s
In the early 90’s Dan saw another area for growth in the business and started AWG Northern Distribution. Distribution was in charge of delivering supplies to all of our locations in British Columbia. Having its own delivery trucks enabled the company to move into Northern Alberta in 1993, and they opened six more locations in Edmonton, and continuing north to Yellowknife.
In 1997 after 8 years attending college in Vancouver, Dan’s daughter Laura moved home to join the business. A Chartered Professional Accountant, she has continued to grow within the company and is currently President of AWG. In March of 2015, after 44 years at the helm, Dan announced that he would be passing on the title of President and responsibility of the company to his daughter Laura Leonard.
Today the Administrative Office is located in Smithers. AWG Northern Industries and Associates employs over 350 people, 175 of them are trained glaziers, automotive techs and carpenters.
Our Mission and Values
AWG Northern Distribution is committed to achieve overall efficiency by continuously improving and providing “clearly quality” service on time to each of our customers.
Giving Back to Our Community
Contributing to the communities where we live, work and play is extremely important to us. We support and advocate for children’s hospitals in Alberta and BC and support other children’s initiatives like local libraries and child development centres. We also support the United Way, and sponsor events in support of bringing the community together.
